Comdex is a sure bet for exhibitors like UPS.  It lets us reach out and touch thousands of technology buyers, looking for more efficient, effective ways of working

-- and as you know, that's just what UPS has to show them.

If you think Comdex is a bunch of pointy-headed nerds with pocket protectors and laptops, that has changed!

Comdex brings together 150,000 plus attendees, and over 2,000 exhibitors -- all potential customers for UPS.

COMDEX, the Computer Distributor Expo, is not just the largest computer show in the United States, it is the largest tradeshow...

Business people know that if you're looking for the latest,

most efficient technology, you'll find it at COMDEX.

The UPS booth made thousands of people aware of our state of the art package tracking system and shipping information system with 2 software demos.

and gave away 40,000 copies of MaxiTrac software free to people who wanted it.

But package tracking was just one UPS service attendees learned about at COMDEX.

We also had an exhibit on Vehicle Routing and Scheduling from RoadNet Technologies.

And worldwide services were demonstrated in this multimedia presentation.

In addition to our exhibit, UPS had an outbound Shipping Counter.  The shipping counter was a convenience for attendees at Comdex, and served as an extension of our marketing message.

A big draw at the exhibit was our live marketing presentation, "Great Expectations."  Over 2,000 people played this gameshow, which featured package tracking and UPS in the computer industry.

And they really got  involved in learning more about UPS.

After viewing a clip about UPS services, the contestants were asked questions.  Their audience "teams" were encouraged to help, and the winning team received token prizes.  According to our random survey,  audience participation increased awareness and retention about UPS services.

UPS also had a major presence at the Olympic Congress this Fall.

We gave a special welcome and joined in the ribbon cutting.

With 2,000 attendees,  this is a smaller but very important audience.

Our first goal was to help announce that we are a Worldwide Olympic Sponsor.

Secondly, we wanted to make personal contact with key decision makers who attend this annual summit of the Olympic family, business partners and prospective associates.

It was also a good opportunity to increase awareness of UPS Worldwide Service.

The theme of the exhibit was "Exceeding Your Expectations...with Speed, Flexibility & Precision"

Exhibit signage -- Speed, Flexibility & Precision

These words both describe the UPS commitment to time sensitive delivery, and  tie in the important role UPS will play in making the Olympics a success.

The show is small, but a quick look at the other exhibitors lets you know its big business.

Prospects involved in the business of the Olympics will be followed up by our sales and marketing team.

In summary, tradeshows helped us exceed our goals to increase awareness of specific UPS products and services at Comdex & NIT League, and make people aware that UPS  is a WorldWide Olympic Sponsor.

At a tradeshow we can get the attention of a huge number of people in a very short time.  We entertain them, we inform them, and we have "great expectations" that once they know what UPS can do, they'll be a UPS customer for life.
